August General Meeting – Hannah Mckenzie, Wild Boar Program Specialist, Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation

Presentation:

This presentation will provide an overview of wild boar in Alberta. It will cover how they got here, why they are such a destructive invasive species, and what we know about their current distribution in Alberta. It will also cover actions taken by the Alberta Government and other partners who are working to protect Alberta from wild boar. There will also be a short section highlighting the Alberta Rat Control Program 

The Speaker:

Hannah graduated from the University of Alberta with an MSc in Mathematical and Statistical Biology and an MSc in Applied Mathematics. Prior to taking on her current role as Wild Boar Specialist, Hannah worked with the Alberta Aquatic Invasive Species program along with her K9 partner Seuss. Hannah employs her quantitative skills to support evidence-informed policy and program decisions. She lives on an acreage near Innisfree with her husband, dogs and chickens.
